HCMC day 1 photos

This was not in HCMC.  It is our front porch right before our pickup for the airport.  Our airport shuttle driver, Ray, subjected us to one bad/offensive joke after another.  "Wanna hear another one?" Ray would ask.  "No," said we, but to no avail.  I'm not sure which was my favorite- the blond joke or the man-bashing joke.  I'm hopting that I can successfully block them out.

This is our hotel room at the Kimdo Hotel.  Mike got it perfectly right when he described it as very swank for 1960.  You kind of expect Don Draper to walk in.

We took a walk at about 9am.  We were soaked with sweat after one block.  Our clothes have yet to arrive, so we were wearing our emergency carry-on bag clothes today.  Poor Mike didn't bring a shirt or pants, so he wore the same long sleeved button down shirt and long pants that he travelled in yesterday.  Gross.  Luckily, on the streets of HCMC, you can find anything and they were more than happy to sell us clothes.  Two t-shirts, two lightweight pants and a 5-pack of undies for me later, we were ready to feel better.  We walked through the big market here.  I started to take pictures, but figured I'd do it when we come back with Aaron.

We did find an upscale mall near our hotel where we restocked on water.  This kind of sums up how we feel here:

Dear Lady Doctor,

Thanks so much for keeping us posted regarding your progress thus far. You & Mike were all the buzz this week-end in the med room with the Baylor Bitches. "Did they leave yet?", "Where do you think they are now?"

Be on the lookout for Janet Leigh and Burt Lancaster at your hotel, I think they are in HCMC doing an ad campaign for American cigarettes! Yes, they might be celebrities, but you can bet that Miss Leigh cannot out-run a suitcase! She might even need to borrow some of your "clean undies".

Our thoughts & good energy are with you....maybe not yet, since you're a day ahead of us....but if I send them quickly, maybe you'll get them sooner...or maybe you can save them for tomorrow.....whatever!

BIG love,
Male Nurse
